About us:
We invite applications for a postdoctoral position to investigate the fundamental question of how the innate immune system distinguishes self from non-self. Using methods ranging from forward genetic screens to biochemical analysis, our team conducts in-depth mechanistic research on this fascinating aspect of immunology. Our lab has a particular focus on nucleic acid sensing pathways and inflammasome biology. If you are interested in any of these aspects, we welcome your application.

Your tasks and responsibilities:
As a postdoctoral researcher in our team, your primary responsibility will be to conceptualize, plan and execute an innovative research project in the field of innate immunity. This project should be aligned with the broader interests and expertise of our group, and we support and encourage you to be ambitious and visionary, with the goal of significantly advancing knowledge and making a tangible impact in the field.
In addition to carrying out your primary research project, you will also contribute to the overall functioning of our team. This includes assisting in the supervision of students, providing guidance and sharing your expertise to foster their academic and professional growth. In addition, you may be asked to take on smaller teaching assignments to further strengthen the educational environment and facilitate knowledge sharing within our academic community.
Your qualifications:
• PhD in immunology, biochemistry, biology or a related field
• Documented background in immunology, molecular biology or biochemistry
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines
• Proactive attitude and enthusiasm for research
• Fluent written and spoken English
Our offer:
The appointee will join an enthusiastic, multidisciplinary team within a stimulating atmosphere with excellent scientific working conditions and access to state-of-the-art instrumentation at the Gene Center of the LMU. The position is (initially) limited to two years, with the possibility of another two-year extension. The salary is determined by experience according to the German public sector pay scale TV-L.
