PhD Position in Single-Cell Transcriptomics and Cardiovascular Systems Biology (f/m/x)

We are offering a PhD position (bioinformatics-focused) in our newly established DFG-funded Emmy Noether Group located at the Gene Center and the Department of Cardiology, LMU University Hospital. Our research combines single-cell RNA sequencing, computational biology, and translational cardiology to investigate cellular heterogeneity and gene regulatory mechanisms in cardiovascular disease.

PhD Position in Single-Cell Transcriptomics and Cardiovascular Systems Biology (f/m/x)

Your Project

You will analyze large-scale single-cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics datasets from human and murine cardiovascular tissues. The goal is to identify disease-relevant cell states, molecular networks, and therapeutic targets in conditions such as heart failure and vascular inflammation.

Your work will involve close collaboration with wet-lab scientists and clinician researchers and contribute to hypothesis-driven, translationally oriented projects.

Your Profile

  • Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, data science, or a related discipline
  • Interest in programming (e.g. R, Python, bash), single cell/NGS data analysis
  • Interest in cardiovascular biology and translational research
  • Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team
  • Good communication skills and proficiency in English
