Two Postdoctoral Positions in Molecular Virology

at the Max von Pettenkofer Institute, Virology & Gene Center, LMU Munich

The Conzelmann laboratory at the Gene Center is seeking for two talented and dedicated postdoctoral researchers to work at the cutting edge of virology, innate immunity, and neuroscience. We offer the opportunity to work on exciting DFG-funded projects. One is in the area of virus-induced stress response and cell death (TRR 237). The other is on modulation of neuronal functions by rabies and other RNA viruses (SFB 870). While focused on basic research, both projects provide immediate opportunities for translational R&D. The candidates will interact closely with co-collaborators in an interdisciplinary setting and will join a motivated and collaborative team. The full time positions are available immediately and three years fixed-term.

Required qualifications are analytical thinking, creativity, communication and interpersonal skills, and a PhD in the biomedical sciences or an MD or DVM degree. Highly developed experimental skills in cell biology, molecular biology or biochemistry are essential. Experience in cell signaling, genetic engineering of cells and/or viruses, imaging, high content genetic screens and bioinformatics is welcome.

The LMU is one of the leading international research institutions for medicine, life sciences and neuroscience. The Conzelmann research group is located at the LMU Gene Center providing a highly interactive and stimulating research environment as well as state-of-the-art research and core facilities.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment. Handicapped candidates with equal qualifications will be given preference. The salary is based on the German public sector pay scale (TV-L).
