Abstract:

The zebrafish model system is an important platform for studying both early events in mycobacterial infection due to the visual accessibility of embryo hosts and the complex multicellular events that drive granuloma formation due to their coevolution with natural mycobacterial pathogens. I will talk about insights into macrophage control of mycobacterial infection provided by our use of the established zebrafish-M. marinum infection model and the immunopathogenesis of Mycobacterium abscessus infection using our newly described adult zebrafish model of persistent infection.
