Bavarian Science Minister Bernd Sibler visited the Gene Center
Minister Sibler informed himself personally about ongoing SARS-CoV-2 research

Karl-Peter Hopfner, Director of the Gene Center, and his colleague Veit Hornung informed Bernd Sibler and Bernd Huber (President of the LMU) about current research projects of the Gene Center. The diverse projects range from therapeutic approaches to the development and optimisation of diagnostic tools to vaccine development. A further focus is on the observation of changes in the viral genome, which can provide information on the spread, infection chains and evolution of SARS-CoV-2. The Minister was impressed and thanked the scientists for their commitment.
Karl-Peter Hopfner and all group leaders of the Gene Center thank Minister of State Sibler and President Huber very much for their visit.
