How DNA glycosylases repair base lesions within nucleosomes

31.10.2024

The mechanism of repairing base lesions within nucleosomes remains to be elucidated. A collaboration between Hopfner and Zhou lab determined the cryo-EM structure of human 8-oxoguanine-DNA glycosylase 1 (hOGG1) bound to 8-oxoguanine lesion in a nucleosome core particle, thereby providing insights into how DNA glycosylases fulfill their repair functions within nucleosomes.
