Research Training Group 1721 (GRK1721)

Integrated Analysis of Macromolecular Complexes and Hybrid Methods in Genome Biology

grkResearch in molecular biology moves towards the analysis of complexity. We meet these developments by implementing a unique and competitive training and research network, GRK1721, to decipher structure and mechanisms of “complex macromolecular systems” in genome biology.

GRK1721 is designed to tackle the next level of structure-function-system analysis of macromolecular complexes by

  • integrating multiscale approaches in life science
  • bridging previously separated disciplines in structural protein science, computational biochemistry and advanced imaging methods
  • training scientists in the emerging field of “hybrid methods

This allows conducting cross-disciplinary projects in order to address the structure, mechanism and molecular regulation of transient and modular macromolecular complexes in genome biology.

We offer an innovative credit based training and mentoring program with required and optional activities that allows the doctoral candidates to tailor their curriculum according to individual needs and project requirements.

Major components of the GRK1721 study program are advanced methods workshops, seminars and soft skill courses to facilitate cross-disciplinary research and development of project specific hybrid methods.

Please visit the GRK1721 Website for more information.
