Forward and reverse genetics approaches in mouse models are used to characterize the functions of components of the EGF-receptor system and to understand the molecular basis of kidney diseases. In addition, we are interested in early development of livestock embryos and use genetic engineering for tailoring pigs as models of human diseases (diabetes, rare monogenic diseases) and as donors of cells, tissues and organs for xenotransplantation.
